Blinken called on Aliyev and Pashinyan for a direct dialogue

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, during a conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, called on both sides to enter into a direct dialogue in order to reduce tensions in Nagorno-Karabakh.

According to the US State Department, Blinken told Pashinyan that Washington is closely monitoring the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. And in a conversation with Aliyev, the US Secretary of State called for “de-escalation and direct dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia.”

Earlier, Armenia accused Azerbaijan of aggression in the area of operation of Russian peacekeepers. At the same time, the press service of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry noted that the country’s military took control of several heights in Karabakh.
