EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrel said that the European Union is not going to block transport links between Kaliningrad and the rest of Russia. According to him, the current traffic situation is a consequence of measures to prevent possible circumvention of sanctions.
“The situation with Kaliningrad is not a blockade,” Borrel said.
He stressed that Europe does not want to block the Russian region, but at the same time needs a mechanism to protect the sanctions regime. At the same time, Borrel expressed the opinion that “it should be done at the same time, it is possible.”
