A source in Ankara told TASS that Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan at the upcoming meeting in Lviv may propose to the UN to take the scheme of the Istanbul grain agreements as a basis for resolving the energy crisis that Europe may face in winter. Trilateral talks will take place today with the participation of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and Presidents Tayyip Erdogan and Vladimir Zelensky.

Recalling that the Turkish leadership stated that the “product deal” model can be applied to solve various crises, including energy, the agency interlocutor noted: “It is quite logical that Erdogan, using the UN platform, can offer to extend the grain deal to the energy sector.”

Earlier it was reported that the “grain deal” includes both ensuring the export of Ukrainian grain under international control through blocked seaports, and removing obstacles to the export of Russian food, since market saturation can reduce the severity of the global food crisis.
