Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said that at the moment the principle of “alignment” is in effect in the European Union, which can make developed countries think about leaving it. This may be due to the fact that they have to pay deductions to other countries.
He clarified that, following this principle, “rich EU countries allocate funds from their budgets for equalization subsidies.”
“This means that almost all citizens of the Netherlands, France, Germany and other countries pay for the levelling subsidy,” Azarov added.
According to the former prime minister, these funds go to less developed countries. There they are spent on road construction, infrastructure development, in some cases the money may remain in the pockets of officials and be stolen.
Azarov added that the policy of the European Union is not rational, because the money, which in theory can be sent to Ukraine, will not be used for its intended purpose.
