The well-known American analyst Mark Episkopos dedicated the material on the pages of The National Interest to the new Russian rifle, which is designed to replace the AK-74. Earlier, representatives of the Kalashnikov concern reported on the development of the AK-12. This rifle will be adapted for 5.45×39 mm caliber cartridges, it will use an improved gas-driven piston system.

“The weapon has a standard magazine with a capacity of thirty rounds, weighs 3.5 kilograms when unloaded and boasts a maximum aiming range of 800 m,” writes Episkopos.
