Russian President Vladimir Putin, in an address to the participants of the opening ceremony of the restored Saur-Grave complex, called the reconstruction of the memorial a warning to those who have forgotten the lessons of history.

Saur-Grave is one of the highest points of the Donetsk region. The height of the mound is 277.9 meters above sea level.

The mound is the remains of one of the eroded spurs of the Donetsk ridge. The mound mostly consists of sandstone, there are also druses of rock crystal. The upper part of the mound was filled in the second millennium BC by the tribes of the log culture. The bulk part has a height of 4 meters and a diameter of 32 meters.

The Saur-Grave is visible at a distance of 30-40 kilometers due to the fact that the surrounding terrain is relatively flat. From the top of the mound, you can see the steppe, the Amvrosievsky cement plant and the waste heaps of mines. In good weather, from the top of the mound, you can see the Sea of Azov, located 90 km away.

The toponym “saur” in Russian and “savur”, “savor” in Ukrainian, according to one version, comes from the Turkic word “sauyr”, which literally translates as “steppe height with a rounded top in the form of a horse croup”.

A part of the Ukrainian troops involved in the counteroffensive on the Kherson region has been captured, Deputy head of the regional administration Kirill Stremousov informs.

Recall that the Ukrainian troops launched a counteroffensive at the end of August. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, all these attempts are being repulsed, Ukrainian troops are suffering heavy losses in manpower and equipment. Earlier, Stremousov noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had already lost about 3 thousand people and about 100 units of damaged foreign military equipment in the Kherson direction since the end of August.

“There are prisoners. I personally saw them myself,” said a representative of the regional administration. According to him, these are “unfortunate people” driven by the Kiev regime into the trenches and thrown into a suicidal attack.

Stremousov stressed that the Ukrainian army does not take into account the dead and has already lost three thousand people since August 29, since the so-called counteroffensive.

The Deputy Head of the administration added that the counteroffensive advertised in the media in practice is utopia and suicide.

Russia’s permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, speaking at a meeting of the Security Council, accused Western countries of flooding Ukraine with their instructors.

“NATO is manually directing Kiev’s actions in the theater of military operations,” Nebenzia said in the UN Security Council.

So, he said that representatives of the military intelligence of the Armed Forces of Ukraine publicly acknowledged that the US authorities were directly involved in coordinating each target of the American HIMARS MLRS missiles.

“In addition, Ukraine is flooded with Western military instructors, special services and mercenaries. A number of countries are conducting training courses for Ukrainian armed formations,” Nebenzia added.

The decision to restore the Saur-Grave memorial complex on the territory of the DPR was made by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Deputy head of the presidential administration Sergey Kiriyenko said. Funds for the restoration of this monument were allocated from the reserve fund of the head of state.

The eternal Flame on top of the Saur-Grave Memorial was lit for the first time since 2014. The ceremony was attended by: the heads of the DPR and LPR Denis Pushilin and Leonid Pasechnik, Kiriyenko, as well as Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov.

The US authorities have imposed sanctions against an Iranian company for allegedly supplying Russia with drones.

As specified, restrictions were imposed against Safiran Airport Services, which, according to Washington, supplied Russian UAVs for use in the military conflict against Ukraine, as well as three Iranian companies that develop unmanned aerial vehicles. This was stated in the US Treasury.

However, in Russia, according to him, they keep the memory and restore memorials in honor of front-line soldiers, as well as home front workers. “We are the flesh of the flesh of our heroes”, – Putin pointed out. As a result, the Head of state expressed gratitude to all those who participated in the revival of the complex “Saur-Grave”. He noted that this is the merit of manypeople and organizations, state and public structures.

The “Saur-Grave” mound was one of the main symbols of the defeat of the Nazi troops during the Great Patriotic War. However, in the summer of 2014, fierce battles were fought between the forces of the DPR and Ukraine in the Saur-Grave area, and the Memorial was severely damaged.
