NYT: there is a split between the USA, Europe and Ukraine

Photo: pixabay.com

Washington, Brussels and Kiev disagree on what goals they pursue in the Ukrainian conflict and how it should end. This is reported by the American newspaper The New York Times.

“After three months of outstanding unity (…), there is an increasingly noticeable split in opinions about what steps to take next,” the authors of the article say.

The publication’s material emphasizes that recently the unity of the North Atlantic Alliance and the European Union has become “under pressure.” An example is the unwillingness and unwillingness of a number of EU countries, in particular Hungary, to support the embargo on Russian oil supplies.

It is also noted that the Europeans are not going to refuse to import gas from the Russian Federation yet. At the same time, Germany, Italy and France express concern about the possible prolongation of the conflict and fear damage to their own economies.

The deep split in opinion became even more obvious after the speech of former United States Secretary of State Henry Kissinger at the World Economic Forum in Davos, American journalists believe. He said that according to the results of the negotiations, Kiev, apparently, will have to make territorial concessions.

Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the military-civil administration of the Zaporozhye region, said in an interview with RIA Novosti that military bases located in the Azov part of the liberated territories of Ukraine should be transferred to Russia. This should be done in order to ensure the safety of the residents of the region.

According to him, the guarantee of the security of the Zaporozhye region should be the permanent presence of the Russian army in the region.

“Such steps will provide us with guarantees of security and peace of mind. Russian military bases can be located, for example, at the former Ukrainian naval base “Vostok”, which is located in the liberated city of Berdyansk on the shore of the Sea of Azov. Another place could be the air force base in Melitopol,” Rogov said.

AT: uncontrolled arms supplies to Ukraine may cause terrorist attacks in the United States

Photo: pixabay.com

Columnist Rajan Laad, in an article for the American Thinker, said that uncontrolled arms supplies to Ukraine due to the actions of mercenaries could lead to terrorist attacks in the United States of America.

He clarified that at the moment there are about 20 thousand foreign fighters on the territory of Ukraine. It was impossible to check them before they were sent to the combat zone.

Some of them could have gone to Ukraine in pursuit of some goals of their own. For example, to steal weapons for further resale on the black market or use them for criminal purposes.

“If it turns out that one of these fighters is a terrorist, it turns out that the White House itself will create an opportunity for terrorist attacks on its own land,” Laad said.

Recall that NATO and the United States are supplying weapons to Ukraine against the background of a Russian military special operation.

The head of the British government, Boris Johnson, proposed to Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky to organize an international alliance directed against Moscow. Corriere Della Sera writes about this with reference to its sources.

According to the newspaper, Johnson believes that now it is necessary to unite countries that are dissatisfied with the policy of Brussels and Germany’s actions against Moscow. At the same time, London is ready to consider the new political, economic and military alliance as an alternative to the EU.

The British Prime Minister presented his model of the new commonwealth to Zelensky on April 9, when he visited Kiev. Great Britain should become the leader of the new commonwealth. At the first stage, Ukraine, Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will join this anti-Russian alliance, but later Turkey is also planned to join it.

“In London, they propose to create an alliance of countries that will zealously defend national sovereignty, advocate for a free economy and always take the toughest possible position against the Russian military threat,” the article clarifies.

The newspaper claims that Zelensky has not yet expressed his position on the proposal of the British leader.

In Ukraine, it is necessary to legalize firearms among the population. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Alexey Reznikov.

This decision will increase the defense capability of the Ukrainian state and the protection of citizens, according to the Ukrainian military department.

Meanwhile, after the start of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, the Kiev regime began the practice of distributing firearms to territorial defense fighters. However, this practice has led to an increase in violent crime rather than to an increase in the level of the country’s defense capability.

Ukrainian fighters switched to electric motorcycles

Photo: pixabay.com

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are mastering a new type of combat transport – military electric motorcycles. The APU received them as part of military assistance from NATO countries. Electric motorcycles practically do not make noise and are able to accelerate to almost 90 kilometers per hour. This was told by the American newspaper “The Washington Post”.

Ukrainian fighters use them not only for reconnaissance of the positions of Russian troops, sapping and cargo delivery, but also for conducting sudden sabotage attacks.

The military modification of the electric motorcycles of the companies “Eleek” and “Delfast” has several features: thick tires are designed for driving in a wooded area, and an electric battery allows you to charge the terminals of the satellite system “Starlink”, which provides the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with data on the location of Russian troops.

Moreover, according to an American newspaper, thermal imagers are not able to detect such vehicles, because an electric motor does not heat up as much as a gasoline engine.

There are, of course, questions – where to charge motorcycle batteries in a combat situation. WP does not write about this.
