If we abandon Russian gas, it will be a “shot in the lungs” for the European Union, because it is impossible to compensate for gas supplies from Russia. This was stated by the representative of the Hungarian government Alexandra Szentkirayi.

At the same time, she stressed that Hungary will very sharply declare its position if the proposed sanctions go against the interests of the population.

“I can say that if the initial introduction of the oil embargo meant a shot in the foot for Europe, then the gas embargo will practically be equal to a shot in the lungs. Not only Hungary, but in general all European countries will not be able to compensate for the huge amount of gas that comes from Russia,” the Hungarian politician said.

The embargo on Russian gas is included in the seventh package of sanctions, which has already been advocated by several European politicians, such as Estonian Prime Minister Kaya Kallas, as well as Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Pavel Jablonski.
