The urgent requests of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to the West to transfer more and more modern weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces speak of panic in Kiev, Asia Times (AT) writes.

From the point of view of the columnist of the publication Stephen Brian, most of the supplied weapons are aimed at stopping the series of losses of the Ukrainian army.

“This hastily delivered weapons shows that Ukraine is closer than ever to losing,” the author of the article shared his opinion.

At the same time, as the journalist emphasizes, Zelensky is worried about his fate in the event of Moscow’s victory.

Brian notes that the Ukrainian leader has arrested most of his political opponents, silenced the media he disliked, including cases when the oppositionists were allegedly liquidated by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). But this will not protect Zelensky and his associates if Kiev begins to understand that the Ukrainian defense is collapsing, the article says.

In this case, the United States will begin to insist on a peaceful settlement of the conflict, which Washington opposed earlier, the observer believes. Such a development of events is “most likely,” Brian summed up.
