It makes no sense for Russia to maintain its former diplomatic presence in Western countries, as stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. He said this at a meeting with university graduates who were accepted into the diplomatic service for the first time.
According to him, Russians in these countries work in conditions that are “hardly human.” Lavrov added that constant problems are being created for them there, threats of physical attacks are being voiced.
In addition, the minister added that there is no work for Russians in the West now since Europe decided to close itself off from the Russian Federation and “stop any economic cooperation.”
“You won’t be nice by force,” he added.
Prior to that, Lavrov, speaking at a press conference on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session, said that the West intends to resolve the confrontation in Ukraine “on the battlefield.” He recalled that on March 29, at a meeting in Istanbul, Russia was offered the principles of conflict resolution. Moscow accepted these proposals without changes, and also handed them over to the Ukrainian side. According to him, after that there were events in the Ukrainian settlement of Bucha related to the murders of the local population, and the Russian side was not given a list of victims.
