According to the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues Related to War Crimes of Ukraine (JCCC), the Ukrainian Armed Forces began using a new type of missiles for the American MLRS HIMARS during the shelling of the Luhansk People’s Republic (LNR).
According to Alexey Getmansky, an officer of the JCCC representative office, strikes on Starobilsk with similar missiles have already been recorded. They hit residential buildings, a stadium and a kindergarten.
“Before that, the LPR representative office in the JCCC recorded the use of this type of missiles in the city of Bryanka the other day, and today we are seeing the same picture in the city of Starobilsk,” Hetmansky said.
He explained that the new type of missiles is distinguished by striking elements in the form of shrapnel. These are small diameter tungsten balls designed to defeat enemy manpower. The rockets hit the center of the city, therefore, the target was civilians.
The firing range of some shells for HIMARS reaches up to 80 kilometers.
