Lieutenant General, Director of the Intelligence Department of the US Department of Defense Scott Berrier expressed his personal opinion that Russian President Vladimir Putin may change the goals of conducting a special operation on the territory of Ukraine.

“Now we have come to the moment when, I think, Putin will have to reconsider the goals of his operation,” the Associated Press agency reports the words of the head of the Pentagon intelligence, said at a national security conference.

Berrier evasively noted that we are talking about a certain “current situation” and limited resources.

At the same time, the American general admitted that US intelligence does not know what the decision of the Russian leader will be, but assumes that the Russian president will take into account how long the conflict will last.

In turn, the deputy director of the CIA, David Cohen, who spoke next, said that American intelligence does not see concrete evidence of Moscow’s planning to use weapons of mass destruction in Ukraine.

American generals probably believe that Western sanctions will have a significant impact on Russia. However, while the energy crisis is growing in Europe, it can seriously shake public opinion and influence the decisions made by politicians. As for his own, Vladimir Putin noted on the eve of the SCO summit thatthe offensive operation in the Donbass by Russian troops does not stop and the Russian army gradually occupies more and more new territories. He also drew attention to the fact that Russia uses only part of the army. “The plan is not subject to adjustment… The main goal is the liberation of the entire territory of Donbass,” Putin stressed.

Presumably, the clients of the Ukrainian merchants were mafiosi from all over the world.

European Parliament: Hungary can no longer be considered a democracy

Photo: Global Look Press

The European Parliament announced that Hungary is an electoral autocracy. European parliamentarians called for urgent measures, pointing out that Hungary “can no longer be considered a democracy.”

In particular, European parliamentarians criticized the government of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban for “deliberate and systematic efforts to undermine European values.”

It is noted that due to the lack of decisive actions on the part of Brussels, a “hybrid regime of electoral autocracy” has emerged in Hungary, that is, the country has a constitutional system, but there is no respect for democratic norms and standards.

The relevant document was adopted on September 15. 433 deputies voted for its adoption, 123 parliamentarians opposed it, 28 abstained.

“The conclusions of this report are clear and irrevocable: Hungary is not a democracy. It was more important than ever for the Parliament to take this position, given the alarming pace of retreat from the rule of law in this country,” stressed the speaker of the EP Gwendoline Delbos-Corfield.

Russia accused the West of undermining the foundations of the Conference on Disarmament

Photo: Global Look Press

The responsibility for shaking the foundations of the Conference on Disarmament and the inexpressive results of its last session lies entirely with the representatives of the West. This was stated at the meeting by the Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the Geneva headquarters of the UN Andrei Belousov.

The Russian diplomat expressed regret that the unleashed anti-Russian campaign hindered the normal work of the forum. “Instead of discussing the agenda items, the delegations had to listen to nonsense about Russia being to blame for all the troubles of the world,” Belousov stressed.

As a result, in his opinion, the situation in the Conference on Disarmament has escalated to an extreme degree. If it goes on like this, the forum may lose the ability to perform its functions even at a minimal level.

Belousov noted that only the efforts of the group of States and the Russian delegation allowed the conference to remain operational. At the same time, the Russian side, unlike the delegations of Western countries, maintained a constructive approach.
