The United States is considering the possibility of supplying fighter jets to Ukraine, but a final decision has not yet been made. This was announced at a briefing at the Pentagon on Wednesday by US Deputy Secretary of Defense for Political Affairs Colin Kohl.
“The fighters remain under consideration, but no final decision has been made in this regard,” he said. At the same time, Kohl stressed, the “current priority” of the White House is that “Ukrainians can use the aircraft they have now to influence the course of the current conflict.”
“As for the aircraft in the future, for example, the fourth generation, they would be delivered to Ukraine only in a few years, even if we provided them now, so we are focused on what they need to support the current efforts,” summed up the deputy head of the US Defense Ministry.
Earlier, the adviser to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Yuriy Sak, stated that Kiev plans to receive modern F-16 aircraft. According to the Military Internet portal, representatives of the Pentagon did not rule out the possibility of transferring A-10 attack aircraft to Kiev.
Earlier, Washington announced the transfer of the largest batch of weapons to Ukraine at a cost of almost $ 3 billion. Thus, the total amount of military assistance provided by the White House to Kiev during Joe Biden’s presidency reached 13.5 billion US dollars.
