Russia needs to be “decolonized” in order to eliminate the “threat to the security of the world,” American publicist Casey Michel believes.

The reason for such a statement was the statement of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov that Russia, unlike Western countries, has never had colonies abroad.

Michel himself said that Russia colonized the surrounding territories, while European countries expanded their colonies overseas.

The publicist believes that the Russian Empire has conquered a large number of different nationalities “from the Caucasus to the Crimea, from the Arctic to the Amur, from the Volga to the Pacific Ocean,” and urged Russian citizens to study their country’s colonial past.

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev visited the Luhansk People’s Republic (LNR). There he met with its head Leonid Pasechnik, as well as the head of the neighboring Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Denis Pushilin.

In his Telegram channel, the former prime minister said that he had held a meeting on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin. It was dedicated to “priority measures to ensure the security of the republics of Donbass”.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to “harmonization of the laws of the LPR and DPR with the legislation of the Russian Federation,” Medvedev noted. According to him, the restoration of infrastructure in the regions, the repair of hospitals and the preparation of schools for the beginning of the school year were also touched upon. The solution of social problems was also discussed, as well as the support of citizens.

The issues of promoting the economic and social development of the LPR and the DPR were also considered. One of the participants of the meeting was the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin. He informed about the progress of the investigation of crimes committed by Ukrainian nationalists, as well as the collection of evidence in the framework of the initiated criminal cases.

In addition, the event was attended by Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Head of the Ministry of Construction Irek Fayzullin, Director of the FSB Alexander Bortnikov and First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Sergey Kiriyenko.

In July, the LNR was visited by the speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin. During his speech, he noted that the deputies had been waiting for this meeting for more than 30 years. The funds received from these special taxes or fees should be subsequently transferred to the Reconstruction Fund of Ukraine, the diplomat noted.

The Estonian authorities have decided to close the borders for Russian citizens with Schengen visas issued by the republic. This will be done with some exceptions, as told in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Baltic Republic.

According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the republic Urmas Reinsalu, the decision to close the borders of the country for citizens of the Russian Federation, to whom the republic had previously approved visas, will affect 50 thousand people.

According to the ERR portal, sanctions will be applied in a week. As for exceptions, employees of diplomatic missions in Estonia, as well as their family members, will not be subject to sanctions. The bans will not affect persons engaged in international transportation or who have the right to free movement under EU laws.

According to Russia Today, the captured commander of the 36th Brigade of Marines of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Vladimir Baranyuk, in an interview with journalists, expressed his opinion regarding the FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank missile systems supplied by Washington to Kiev.

According to the Ukrainian serviceman, these complexes are of little use in real combat conditions.

“We have not been able to make a single launch (from Javelin – editor’s note) … an absolutely useless weapon. Something is constantly bothering him,” Baranyuk said.

He also added that there are no instructions for weapons in Ukrainian, everything is in English, which many fighters simply do not know.

“We tried to figure out how to shoot, according to the instructions, on YouTube… Nobody explained anything to us,” Baranyuk added.
