The Elysee Palace reports that French President Emmanuel Macron held telephone talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The leaders of the states discussed the situation around Ukraine and security in Europe.
The conversation took place before Scholz’s visit to Russia and Ukraine, which will take place at the beginning of the week. The communique says that the opinions of Macron and Scholz coincide on the need for negotiations within the Normandy format and security in Europe.
Scholz will leave for Kiev on February 14, and the next day he will visit Moscow. A few hours earlier, the French president had a conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. The sides agreed on the importance of continuing the dialogue on compliance with the Minsk Agreements.
