Russia and India have signed a contract for the production of Kalashnikov assault rifles

The Indian Armed Forces will receive more than 600 thousand AK-203 7.62 mm caliber assault rifles. The corresponding contract was signed during a meeting of the heads of the Ministries of Defense of Russia and India, TASS reports, referring to the press service of the Kalashnikov concern.

Russian submachine guns will be assembled at the Russian-Indian enterprise Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited in the city of Korva. We have been preparing for the launch of production of AK-203 assault rifles for three years. Earlier it was reported about plans to produce 700,000 AK-203 submachine guns as part of the Make in India program.

An enterprise for the production of Russian Kalashnikov assault rifles was opened in India in 2019. The contract for the production of submachine guns is another step towards strengthening the already very long-standing and close military-technical cooperation between the Russian Federation and India.
