The Su-30SM and Su-27 fighters of the Russian Aerospace Forces accompanied the CL-600 Challenger reconnaissance aircraft, as well as the EP-3E Aries electronic warfare aircraft of the US Air Force.The National Defense Control Center noted that on July 11, air targets approaching the state border of the Russian Federation were detected over the Black Sea.
In order to identify and prevent the violation of the border, Su-30SM and Su-27 fighters from the air defense forces of the Southern Military District were lifted into the air.
As a result, the fighter crews escorted them over the Black Sea.After that, the Russian planes returned safely to their home airfields.
