According to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Ireland, Yuri Filatov, he will hold a meeting at the Russian embassy with Irish fish producers, who previously declared their readiness to “peacefully prevent” the Russian naval forces from conducting maneuvers near the island.
Thus, the leadership of the organization of southern and western fish producers of Ireland announced its readiness to start fishing for whiting in the area where the Russian fleet is to conduct exercises.
The Russian diplomat clarified that at this meeting with the fishermen, he would listen to all their concerns about the exercises and bring to them the danger of such actions. This is reported by RIA Novosti.
Earlier, the Irish Foreign Ministry reported that it had notified a Russian diplomat that fleet maneuvers off the Irish coast were not welcome. For its part, Moscow has informed the Irish authorities that the exercises of the Russian Navy in the Atlantic pose no threat to Ireland or anyone else.
