Assistant to the US President for National Security Jake Sullivan said that China is waiting for the condemnation of the world community if it turns a blind eye to Russia’s “invasion” of Ukraine.
A White House official promised Beijing consequences if it gives the “green light” to “Russian aggression.” Sullivan also warned China against economic assistance to Russia, saying that it simply does not compensate for losses from sanctions.
Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a meeting on February 4 during the opening of the Olympics. The press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov later spoke about the warm and partnership nature of the interaction.
