The Japanese government has decided to introduce a state of emergency in Tokyo until August 22, this is due to an increase in the spread of coronavirus in the capital, NHK TV channel reports, citing sources.
According to sources, it is planned to extend the emergency regime in the southern Okinawa prefecture for the same period.
According to the Ministry of Health of Japan, on June 7, 920 new cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in Tokyo, this is more than a week ago. The last time more than 900 cases were recorded on May 13.
Earlier in Tokyo, the emergency regime was in effect until June 20, then the measures were relaxed.
On July 23, the Summer Olympic Games will begin in the country. If an emergency mode is introduced, local viewers may not be allowed to attend them.
