Russian strategic missile carriers successfully launched cruise missiles in the Arctic

Long-range aviation exercises with the participation of Tu-160 and Tu-95MS missile carriers were held in the Arctic. They traveled 4,000 kilometers to get to the test site and successfully fired cruise missiles at ground targets. This is reported by the Zvezda TV channel.

“The launches were carried out normally, the missiles hit targets at the test site, confirming the specified accuracy characteristics,” the Defense Ministry said.

It is reported that the missile carriers took off from the airfield in the Saratov region. On the eve of the long-range aviation crews relocated there from the Amur and Ryazan regions.

The exercises were also held in the Irkutsk region. There, the crews of Tu-95MS aircraft practiced firing from aft aircraft guns. The flights took place from the home airfield. The duration of the flights was more than six hours.

Tactical flight exercises of the crews of Tu-160, Tu-95MS and Il-78 aircraft will continue until July 9. They are led by the commander of the long-range aviation, Lieutenant General Sergei Kobylash.
