President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov has scheduled a referendum on the republic’s accession to the Russian Federation for July 17. The website of the head of South Ossetia reports that a corresponding decree was signed today.
The statement notes that the President was guided by the “historical desire of the people of the Republic of South Ossetia to reunite with Russia”.
The question will be included in the referendum ballot: “Do you support the unification of the Republic of South Ossetia and Russia?”.
Recall that on May 8, 2022, the new president of South Ossetia, Alan Gagloev, was elected. But she hasn’t taken office yet.The inauguration of the elected President of South Ossetia, Alan Gagloev, is scheduled to take place on May 24.
