Bloomberg agency, citing its own sources in the government, reported that Germany may refuse to import oil from Russia by the end of this year. At the same time, such a decision can be made even if the European Union does not reach an agreement on the issue as part of the next package of sanctions.

It is clarified that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is currently determined to promote the refusal of supplies of natural gas from Russia as part of the restrictions of the European Union in response to the Russian Federation conducting a special military operation in Ukraine.

The German authorities are looking for alternative gas supply options and are concluding deals with alternative energy suppliers. Who exactly will be able to fill the oil shortage will not be specified, but representatives of Germany are confident that they will be able to solve all logistical issues in six to seven months.

The publication adds that at the upcoming talks between Scholz and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutee, the topic of oil sanctions and energy security will become one of the main ones.
