The head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, acting head of the LDPR faction Leonid Slutsky called for the abolition of the moratorium on the death penalty when sentencing the surrendered fighters of the Ukrainian volunteer battalion “Azov” (recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia).
Slutsky wrote in his telegram channel that he supports the proposal of the chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin to study the issue of the committee “on banning the exchange of Nazi criminals”.
“Moreover, if their monstrous crimes against humanity are proven, I will repeat my proposal to make an exception from the moratorium on the death penalty,” Slutsky stressed.
The deputy added that it is necessary to give the Russian court the right to “consider the possibility of applying capital punishment!”.
Today, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation appealed to the Supreme Court with a request to recognize the Ukrainian paramilitary nationalist association “Azov” as a terrorist organization.
