The strategic plan for the restoration of Ukraine, which was developed by the European Commission, is presented. It is called “Rebuild Ukraine” and entails costs of hundreds of billions of euros, Sueddeutsche Zeitung reports.
The project notes that the restoration of Ukraine will take more than ten years. At the same time, the allocated money will be associated with strict conditions, including the fight against corruption and the implementation of reforms to bring Kiev closer to the European Union.
The exact amount of money that will be required for the restoration of Ukraine is not called, but it is noted: it attracts hundreds of billions of euros. Financial support from the EU will follow through the implementation of the new EU budget program. It is planned to base it on how assistance to EU member states works after the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition, money for the restoration of infrastructure will come from international partners. But it is noted that it is in the strategic interests of the European Union to lead the efforts and take on “most of it,” the European Commission believes.
