Ukrainian columnist Yuriy Panchenko, in an interview with the publication “European Truth”, said that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is blackmailing NATO to lift sanctions for the purchase of Russian S-400 in exchange for positions on the membership of Sweden and Finland in the North Atlantic Alliance.
According to him, back in 2019, Ankara bought four air defense complexes from Moscow for two half billion dollars. In turn, the White House imposed restrictive measures against Turkey.
“What goals does Erdogan pursue? Most likely, the key goal is Turkey’s demand to the United States regarding the issue of arms sales,” Panchenko said.
He clarified that Ankara, as well as Hungary, wants to make money on sanctions and plans to significantly increase the flow of tourists from Russia.
