Former State Department adviser David Phillips said that the United States doubted Turkey’s reliability because of the destruction of its transatlantic unity in an attempt to annoy Russia.
Phillips believes that the United States has done a brilliant job in reaching a consensus by the West regarding the special operation conducted by Russia in Ukraine. Turkey, for its part, refused to take part in assisting Ukraine and did not join the sanctions against Moscow.
According to the ex-adviser, Turkey is trying to sit on two chairs in order to maintain neutral relations with both countries and get economic benefits.
