German Finance Minister Christian Lindner told the Financial Times that he is against the confiscation of personal assets of Russians to finance the restoration of Ukraine at their expense.

“He is opposed to the confiscation of the personal assets of Russian oligarchs,” the newspaper notes.

The obstacles in carrying out the asset recovery procedure are “very significant,” the minister explained. He recalled that the authorities of legal states guarantee the inviolability of private property.

At the same time, Lindner repeated: the German government is ready to consider a proposal to confiscate previously frozen foreign assets of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation. The head of the German Finance Ministry stressed the need to study legal issues, as well as possible consequences in the event of the seizure of assets of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, Bloomberg, referring to the EU project, reported that the European Union is studying the possibility of using the assets of individuals of the Russian Federation that have fallen under sanctions. According to the agency, the EU intends to use these funds to restore Ukraine.
