President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has submitted a bill to the Verkhovna Rada, according to which it is proposed to ratify the Convention The Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence, also known as the Istanbul Convention.
It follows from the draft law that Ukraine recognizes the purpose of the Convention to protect women from all forms of violence, as well as the prevention and prosecution of domestic violence.
Ukraine does not consider any of the provisions of the document as binding to change the constitution of the country and the Family Code, the document emphasizes.
