Andrei Zolotovsky, a deputy of the Yaroslavl Municipality from United Russia, has died at the age of 47. The regional parliamentarian in 2017 thundered throughout the country when he became the hero of a meme during the local elections. That year, a Yaroslavl cartoonist under the pseudonym Sidor Pustoslov made a collage of Zolotovsky’s photos with the slogan “Time to tighten your belt!”.
According to the municipality, the deputy died suddenly on June 19. It is previously known that the cause of death was problems with the cardiovascular system, but the exact diagnosis will have to be established by doctors.

The chairman of the municipality Artur Efremov said 76.ru that Andrey Valentinovich was a professional, “caring, responsive, responsible person” and “always defended the interests of voters.”
The deputy has a wife and two children. The farewell to the deceased is tentatively scheduled for June 22.
