German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed gratitude to German industrialists for supporting anti-Russian sanctions, even though these actions are damaging the national economy. Scholz stated this during a speech at the association’s conference.
” Therefore (so that Ukraine can defend itself — ed.) we are working against Russia with the help of unprecedented tough sanctions that work. Yes, they are painful for us, for our companies. But they are true,” the German Chancellor said.
Scholz also noted that freedom has its price, like democracy and solidarity with friends. In this regard, according to him, Germany is ready to pay such a price. Scholz also thanked the Federal Union of German Industry for supporting sanctions against the Russian Federation.
It is noted that before Olaf Scholz, the head of the FSNP, Siegfried Russwurm, spoke, who just announced support for sanctions against the Russian Federation.
