Journalists interviewed teachers at US universities on the subject of how they feel about the decision of the Ukrainian authorities to abandon teaching Russian literature in schools.
Experts expressed a unanimous opinion, calling this policy of Kiev erroneous, recalling that Russian classical writers and poets have nothing to do with politics.
“The emotions of the Ukrainian authorities are understandable, but the decision is absurd,” said Natalia Pokrovskaya, an ex-lecturer at Harvard University.
And Konstantin Muravnik, senior lecturer at the Department of Slavic Languages and Literature at Yale University, recalled that Russian literature is the pearl of world literature.
