The shelling of the Zaporozhye NPP by the Ukrainian army is a manifestation of nuclear terrorism. This was stated by the Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the OSCE Maxim Buyakevich.
The diplomat noted that Kiev has moved from killing civilians to striking at the Zaporozhye NPP. This may create a risk of a large-scale nuclear catastrophe, which will affect the security of European countries.
Buyakevich noted that the West demonstrates an amazing lack of reaction to such dangerous actions of Ukraine. The United States is located across the Atlantic Ocean, but European countries will also inevitably suffer in the event of a catastrophe.
The Russian diplomat stressed that in the event of an accident at the nuclear power plant in Energodar, the territories of Kiev, Zaporozhye, Kharkiv, Poltava, Kherson, Odessa regions of Ukraine, Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, a number of regions of Russia, as well as Belarus, Moldova, Romania and Bulgaria will fall into the radiation damage zone. Contamination of waterways can make the Black Sea and the Bosphorus Strait unsuitable for navigation. The coasts of Abkhazia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania and Turkey may also be contaminated with radiation.
