Daniel Michaels, a columnist for the American newspaper Wall Street Journal, reports that most of the Russian trains heading to the Kaliningrad region are accompanied by Lithuanian helicopters. This is due to “fears” for the Suwalki corridor.

In turn, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Lithuania clarified that now, compared with 2020, the number of patrol departures of border guards has increased fourfold.

“Lithuanian helicopters accompany many trains heading from Russia. This is done in order to make sure that the trains will not stop and nothing will be unloaded or loaded from them,” Michaels said.

He clarified that at the moment NATO is concerned about the future of the Polish-Lithuanian border region, which is located between Belarus and the Kaliningrad region. Such an anxious mood scares away most tourists and this has a bad effect on Polish businessmen in Suwalki and other investors.
