US Attorney General Merrick Garland said that he personally approved the conduct of investigative activities on the estate of the 45th US President Donald Trump. At the same time, he added that the Ministry of Justice appealed to the court, demanding to make public the permission to conduct the search.
“I have approved the decision to issue a search warrant in this case. The Ministry does not take such decisions lightly,” Garland explained to reporters, his words are quoted by Agence France—Presse. He also condemned the “unjustified attacks” on the FBI after the search.
Recall that on August 9, US FBI officers descended on Trump’s residence in Florida without warning. According to the former head of state himself, this is due to his desire to take part in the election campaign in 2024.
