The press service of Rostec said that preliminary tests of the newest sniper complex “Ugolek” have begun. If they go well, the Russian Defense Ministry will appoint state tests.
In Russia, at the moment, the main Dragunov sniper rifle (SVD), adopted in the 1960s.
“Ugolek” will be significantly superior to its predecessor. It was made entirely of domestic materials and components.
It will use Russian cartridges of NATO caliber: 308 Winchester (7.62 x 51 mm) and 338 Lapua Magnum (8.6 x 69 mm).
The developer stated that the Ugolek sniper rifle is designed for long-range shooting.
Tsniitochmash plans to create self-loading hunting rifles based on army rifles for both calibers – both .308 and .338 Lapua Magnum.
