Oleg Veselkov, head of the Department for Interaction with Religious Associations of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Armed Forces of Russia, said at a round table within the framework of the Army-2022 international forum that experimental mobile field temples will be created for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on the basis of the Patriot UAZ. According to him, the corresponding technical task for the Mobile Complexes and Systems Design Bureau has already been prepared.
The Design bureau will have to create samples of “mobile, based on the UAZ Patriot car, and field, based on a modified sample of an army tent, points of work with religious servicemen,” Veselkov said.
He also recalled that in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, field objects of religious worship are everywhere equipped, and there are standard cabins on submarines and ships for these purposes. The representative of the Political Department also identified the regions where Russian military priests work today. In addition to Russia, these are Ukraine, Syria, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Nagorno-Karabakh.
