The Russian Embassy in Washington has opened a book of condolences in connection with the death of the first president of the USSR, the General Secretary of the CPSU, the death of Mikhail Gorbachev
He died on August 30 after a serious and prolonged illness at the age of 92.
“In connection with the death of the first and only President of the USSR Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev, a book of condolences has been opened at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the United States,” the diplomatic mission said in a statement. The embassy also invited everyone to express words of sympathy by e-mail.
Earlier, the Russian embassies in Greece and Sweden opened books of condolences to Gorbachev’s relatives and friends.
