The German newspaper Welt reported that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at a meeting with residents of Essen said he wanted to continue negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The politician clarified that he is currently in close contact with the Russian leader. Among other things, he added that he did not want to stop the interaction.
“I didn’t meet Putin at the long table in Moscow, but I talked to him on the phone many times. And I will say clearly that I will continue to do this,” Scholz said.
Earlier it was reported that Germany has implemented an extensive package of measures in case the Russian Federation does not supply gas to the country at all.
