The heads of the finance ministries of the “Big Seven” – G7 countries (Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Canada, USA, France and Japan) have agreed to introduce a “price ceiling” for Russian oil, according to Readovka. At the same time, it is clarified that the ceiling, which will limit the price of Russian oil, is still under discussion.
In a statement adopted following the meeting, the finance ministers called on all oil-producing countries to increase production in order to stabilize the market. Countries that will find themselves in a “vulnerable” position as a result of the application of new anti-Russian measures will be provided with assistance, the mechanism of which promises to be developed by the G7.
At the same time, a ban will be imposed on the transportation, financing or insurance of Russian oil, the price of which will be above a certain ceiling.
