The 80-year-old former Chief of Staff of the Republika Srpska Army, Colonel-General Paikr Mladic, sentenced to life imprisonment by an international tribunal, was hospitalized in The Hague.
His son Darko Mladic said that the general’s condition is serious.
“He was admitted to the hospital with symptoms of general weakness,” Darko Mladic said, adding that doctors diagnosed his father with pneumonia and a weakening of the heart.
Recall that Mladic was arrested in Serbia and extradited to The Hague in 2011. Last year, the Appeals Chamber of the Hague Tribunal rejected Mladic’s appeal against the verdict. He was charged with war crimes and genocide in connection with the siege of Sarajevo, as well as in connection with the Srebrenica massacre.
