Candidate of Political Sciences, associate professor of the Academy of Labor and Social Relations Pavel Feldman said in a conversation with Lenta.” that French President Emmanuel Macron informally performs the function of an information intermediary between the West and Moscow.

On Sunday, it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin phoned Macron and they exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine, focusing on issues of ensuring the safety of the NPP.

Feldman commented on it this way: “It is unlikely that the content of the negotiations will become public, but the key theses are set out in the Kremlin’s official message: the dialogue took place “on the initiative of European partners” and was quite frank.”

The political scientist also noted that after the departure of former German Chancellor Angela Merkel for political retirement, Macron informally began to serve as an information intermediary between the conditional West and Russia.

Feldman believes that Putin is directly bringing his arguments to Macron, without any diplomatic euphemisms. And the French leader does the same.

According to Feldman, Macron, in a conversation with Putin, “Most likely repeated his thesis, voiced a day earlier in a conversation with British Prime Minister Liz Truss, and confirmed the readiness of the West to provide further financial and military assistance to Kiev.” Similar statements have already been made from the United States.

The political scientist suggested that Putin warned the West in the person of Macron about the economic and political consequences for Europeans of such assistance to Kiev.

At the same time, Feldman thinks that apart from a frank exchange of views, it is unlikely that such contacts at the highest level can be crowned with something else.

“This also applies to the situation with the NPP, which is gradually coming to a standstill,” the political scientist said.

He believes that “no one needs a nuclear apocalypse in the center of Europe,” but notes that it is difficult to imagine such a solution to this problem that will suit “Moscow, Brussels, Washington, and Kiev.”

Meanwhile, it was reported that Macron intends to continue the conversation with Putin in the coming days.
