The DPRK authorities have embarked on a gradual withdrawal from Western countries, in particular, the United States, wanting to become the “best friend” of Russia and China.
This point of view was expressed by the columnist of the Foreign Policy publication Mike Chinoy. He drew attention to the fact that Moscow and Beijing have recently taken a course towards rapprochement, although Pyongyang’s decision to join them is no less important.
The author also recalled that North Korea, in its appeals to Russian and Chinese colleagues on the occasion of certain memorable dates, emphasizes that Pyongyang intends to continue cooperation further.
Chinoy also pointed out that the DPRK for the first time began using the term “strategic and tactical” cooperation to describe relations with Moscow and Beijing.
The columnist added that another reason for the rapprochement of Pyongyang, Beijing and Moscow is North Korea’s rejection of the nuclear deal with the United States and the general cooling of relations between the DPRK and Washington.
