Former US intelligence officer Edward Snowden, who received Russian citizenship today by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, will not be called up to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation as part of partial mobilization.
As his lawyer Anatoly Kucherena explained, Snowden did not serve in the Russian army, therefore, according to current legislation, he does not fall into this category of citizens.
However, in the future, Snowden will act according to Russian laws, the lawyer added. He also noted that Snowden’s daughter, who was born in Russia, received Russian citizenship by birth, and his wife will now apply for citizenship.
