Readers of the French newspaper Le Figaro spoke about the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky. This happened after his application for accelerated membership in NATO.
One of the users pointed out that the hysteria should stop. “We should not blow up the planet because of Ukraine…”quot;,” the user pointed out.
Another user stressed that Ukraine survives “only thanks to the help of the West.” But it won’t last forever.
Another reader hoped that at least one of the NATO members would have the common sense to veto Ukraine’s membership in the alliance. Otherwise, it will mean a direct war with Russia.
The commentator also noted that in accordance with the NATO charter, Ukraine will not be taken into the alliance due to the fact that the country is in a state of conflict with the Russian Federation.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that Kiev expects accelerated accession to NATO. He has already submitted the relevant application.
At the same time, The New York Times notes that Washington and its European allies still fear that Russia’s opposition will lead to the risk of a large-scale confrontation. The publication points to the problems that Kiev will face on its way to NATO. Thus, France and Germany were skeptical about Ukraine’s inclusion in the North Atlantic Alliance. President Biden has also been reluctant in the past to support Ukraine’s hypothetical membership, fearing further US military commitments.
