President Recep Erdogan told reporters that Turkey had deployed attack drones in the unrecognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), and that the decision to do so was a response to the actions of the United States, which lifted the 30-year arms embargo on the Republic of Cyprus in mid-September. This statement was reported by the state TV channel TRT.
Answering a question about the possibility of creating a Turkish military base on the Karpas peninsula in the TRNC, Erdogan replied: “Currently, we have UAVs in the TRNC, including attack drones. New deliveries are possible, this is our right.”
As for the Turkish Air Force aircraft, according to the Turkish president, if necessary, they can take off from existing bases at any time and reach the island as soon as possible.
Earlier it was reported about the aggravation of contradictions between Turkey and Greece, during which both sides accused opponents of provocations and appeals to international unions and organizations.
