Police and the Norwegian Ministry of Defense are investigating more than 30 reports of unidentified drones near oil and gas facilities in the North Sea. This is reported by NRK TV and radio company.
“The police have received a significant number of reports that unidentified drones have appeared near oil and gas fields in the North Sea. The police and the Ministry of Defense have launched an investigation,” the report says.
According to Norwegian law, drones should not approach offshore platforms closer than 500 meters, and they should not be used near energy facilities. Suspects in the violation have not yet been identified. The police suggested that the purpose was “to increase fear and a sense of threat.”
The Coast Guard ship KV Sortland is currently patrolling near the Troll A field in the North Sea. The situation is also controlled by the Armed Forces.
