Officer Oleksiy Oleksiuk, in an interview with the New York Times, said that the AFU faced a shortage of Ukrainian instructors.
According to the publication, at the moment this problem is one of the most important, because there is a “stream of young people who are waiting for their turn to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”
“Now all Ukrainian instructors are on the front line. They were either seriously injured or killed,” Oleksiuk added.
Correspondents of the American edition also talked with retired Colonel Andrew Melbourne. He visited the territory of Ukraine and developed an accelerated course for the training of local soldiers.
“According to him, weeks of preparation is very little fighting, but it’s better than nothing,” notes NYT.
