Former Russian Prime Minister Sergei Stepashin told why the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has become tougher towards the West than he was before. He noted that this is a reaction to the “deception” of Russia.
“Of course, he became tougher towards those who, in fact, deceived him and our country,” Stepashin says.
He added that during the time when Putin was replacing Stepashin as prime minister, he hoped that the country had finally made friends with the West in an adult way. However, things have become very different.
Sergey Stepashin served as Prime Minister of the Russian Federation from May 19 to August 9, 1999, after which Vladimir Putin became Prime Minister, and on March 26, 2000 he was officially elected president.
