Due to the depletion of weapons stocks, Washington will soon have to change its policy of supporting Ukraine, said Mark Kanchian, senior adviser at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

In an interview with Fox News, the expert said that he had studied information about the remnants of weapons in the United States and the industrial capacities of weapons manufacturers, and also contacted representatives of the administration of President Joe Biden on this issue.

According to him, the US military’s gun depots are emptying, and stocks of HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, Javelin anti-tank complexes and M777 howitzers are being depleted.

In his opinion, in the future, Washington will begin to supply less advanced weapons or limit supplies altogether. Another option, according to Kanchian, is to provide Ukraine with analogues or purchase weapons for it from other countries.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden ordered to allocate additional military assistance to Ukraine totaling up to $725 million. Reuters reported that Washington plans to send ammunition and armored vehicles to Kiev as part of a new package of military assistance. It was also about the supply of modern air defense systems. The new package of American aid to Ukraine will also include ammunition for jetHIMARS multiple launch rocket system. Washington has provided Kiev with $18.2 billion in military aid to Ukraine since January 2021, and the amount of aid provided since 2014 has reached $20.3 billion.

Russia has warned NATO countries about arms supplies to Kiev. In a statement, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that any cargo that contains weapons for Ukraine will become a legitimate target for Russia.
